Pinterest Gets a Plug-In

Once again WordPress has commissioned another Plug-In to complement their already extensive range which stands at over 18,000. Part of the reason WordPress Plug-Ins have become such a success recently is because of their hosting service which boasts a large network of content servers around the world.

Another is their responsibility towards SEO and their commitment to drive traffic towards your blog though their variety of plug-ins such as the ‘Automatic SEO Links’  and ‘Google XML Sitemap’s. Similarly with the recent surge in popularity of Pinterest there has been a major development in the form of the Pinner, the latest WordPress Plug-In which is an all one tool for users of the popular blogging platform.

Through their WordPress account users can now install the Pinner which will add a dashboard to the bloggers admin area. By installing the Plug-In user can:

• View the categories and names of various boards as well as the date posted.

• Social analytics on your Pinterest account with information on clicks, likes and the amount of repins.

• Schedule upcoming pins and automatically follow users engaging with their own pins.

The creators of the WordPress Pinner, Wilco de Kreij and Mark Ramos, were inspired by the success of Pinterest analytics tool Pinerly. The team’s first release of this beta version has only got auto-pinning and tracking functions however the team envisages more developments in the not so distant future.

Some of these may include the detailed statistics, tracking non-WordPress uploaded material and the inclusions of multiple account support. For now, the plug-in will only work on self-hosted WordPress websites on WordPress.org.

Another interesting Pinterest tool which has shot to fame in the last few months is Repinly which is a Pinterest directory that allows you to get insights into what the most popular pins, boards and topics are. It can show you who the most influential ‘Pinners’ are and what trends their creating as well as useful tips for brands that want to reach their target audience.
