As mentioned above, affinity marketing is simply a business partnership. As an affinity marketer, you will be given a special link or URL that identifies you as the affiliate seller. This URL will hold an identification number so the partnership company you are selling for can see how many sales you have generated for them or visitors that you have referred to their site. Depending on the amount of referrals you will receive a sales commission.
There are three well known ways of generating income through affinity marketing:
- Pay Per Click – each time a potential client leaves an affiliate website by clicking on the link to bring them to the merchants website a certain amount of money will be deposited to the affiliate as a form of sales commission
- Pay Per Sale – every time a sale is made as a direct result of advertising on an affiliate’s website, they receive a sales commission
- Pay Per Lead – each time a potential client registers on the merchants website as a direct result of an advertisement on the affiliates site, the affiliate will receive a predetermined sales commission
